One of the devotions I read today is this:

Today’s devotion reminds me of this verse: Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails. I was also reminded of one of the medicines I am taking for more than 8 years and is now gradually being removed by my new neurologist. Yes, a corticosteroid with a known brand name: Prednisone is one of the cheapest medicine. But like others who used it to provide relief for inflamed areas of the body. Too much can even worsen my health. Also, too much of our comfort zone that is not pleasing to God can corrupt our soul.

Poisoning Ourselves

Devotional:

There is a dispute about the cause of Beethoven’s death, but William Walsh; a scientist from Illinois, says that Beethoven may have accidentally poisoned himself. After studying strands of hair from the body of famous classical composer Walsh discovered that Beethoven’s body had one hundred times the normal amount of lead. He concluded that Beethoven’s untimely death at the age of fifty-seven was due to lead poisoning. Beethoven’s lead poisoning may have been due to the mineral spa he went to for relaxation as prescribed by his doctor. Sadly, the very thing he thought was bringing him relief was slowly poisoning him to death. Spiritual poison is like that as well. When we engage in practices and embrace spiritually poisonous ideas, we are led to believe that we are becoming more spiritual. But in reality, we’re gradually being poisoned to eternal death

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, keep me from roaming from your care. Help me to know that You are the only Spirit capable of restoring life. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
